Use torch corals as focal points
A single torch coral can carry more visual weight than several small corals because of its long, moving tentacles. Start by deciding which rock ledge should become the focal area in your tank. Then test the coral at a scale that feels believable relative to the rockwork and nearby fish.
Leave a generous visual buffer
Tentacles change the perceived footprint of a coral. When planning a display, leave open visual space around a torch rather than placing another showpiece immediately beside it. This makes the movement easier to appreciate and keeps your design readable as corals grow.
Choose a color role
- Green torch corals can create a bright central focal point under blue lighting.
- Gold and yellow morphs add warmth against cooler purple or blue neighbors.
- Dark or purple-tentacle morphs can add contrast without making the tank feel overly bright.
